"Jacobs Kelly" was a indie Rock and Roll band that toured the North
Central United States in the late 70's early 80's. They enjoyed a very
large local following and steadily toured for about 9 years playing 5
nights a week. This album was one of the 1st recorded at the Original
Topaz Studio's In Flushing, MI in 1979. It was released on the indie Label
"Broken Records" in 1980. It has at least one song on which the mix was
done my Mel Schacher of "Grand Funk Railroad". In 2004 the Sloan
Museum in Flint, Mi had a History of Rock N Roll exhibit in which they
had a section that featured local talents that saw a certain amount of
success. Jacobs Kelly was right there along side Grand Funk Railroad and
a few others from the Flint area. The band consisted of four member and
two full time road crew. There was Donny Hails on guitar and vocals, Ron
Coleman on guitar and vocals, Bill Douglas on Bass and vocals and Bob
"Popeye" Franks on drums. Today Ron Coleman resides in Flushing, MI.,
Don Hails resides in Clarkston, MI., Bill Douglas recently moved to
Detroit after many years in Kentucky, and Bob Franks resides in Port
Huron, MI. This CD was captured from
one of the last vinyl 33 1/3 albums left in existence. |
